This Aluminum wind-back / screw-in rear caliper piston tool is intended to work with universal piston kits, such as those rented from places like Autozone like this one. While that tool has many adapter faces, none of them fit these specific vehicles.

This tool works on the listed vehicles that use an integrated mechanical parking brake. We have tried to provide a complete, accurate listing. But since the OEM tool is discontinued, please ensure that this fits your vehicle before ordering. The OEM tool number was 09581-11000. 

On these vehicles, the rear pistons have notches/slots on the face and must be rotated (usually clockwise) while being pushed in. A standard C-clamp alone will not work and can damage the mechanism. This does not work on vehicles with Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). Those require a scan tool for service mode or manual motor removal/turning of the actuator shaft.

Always confirm by looking at the piston face: if it has two (or more) notches/slots, it needs the wind-back method. Direction is usually clockwise, but verify on your specific vehicle. Align the notches properly so the pad locating features engage.

For those who find this issue while the vehicle is apart and on stands and need an immediate fix, we provide a 3D printable option. This should be made in the toughest material that is on hand, and usually thicker layer heights work better. Print with the notched, 45 degree angle on the bed as shown (no supports needed). This stops the layer lines from being parallel to the forces where it will simply shear apart at a layer line. From experience, one printed in Polycarbonate was able to break loose and complete the piston retraction on a very stuck piston. The 3D printed version did not survive unscathed, but it did the job.
